Born in Boston, 1974, had completely unremarkable upper-middle-class childhood. Grew up in Maine near the sea in a big ramshackle farmhouse. One brother and one sister, both older, and a succession of terriers kept her company. Daddy was a federal contractor and Mommy was a secretary at a church. A bright girl with the loving support of both parents behind her, she excelled in school and graduated early from high school with top marks. Because she was a little bit of a teen idealist, she took aim at what a teen idealist would think was the biggest, most important problem going: the end of communism.
She went into Stanford on a scholarship at the age of 16 - eager to break away from her family - and concentrated on political science and boys. Matriculating at 19, she went straight into her master's in Soviet area studies, and from there she went straight into the CIA as an intern in their Russian and European Analysis section. She has spent her entire career in the CIA, almost all of it in that section.
From 1995-1997 she was stationed in Hungary, then Poland from the end of '97 to 2002. Since coming back to the States, she worked diligently and discretely in positions of increasing responsibility in sector administration until 2011, when the Director of the Russian And European Intelligence sector stepped down. While the long process of selection and confirmation continues, Talia was named Interim Director.
She started painting in Hungary and produces brightly-colored and intricately-textured abstract expressionist pieces. Her primary hobby is men; she is a flirt and sensualist and has reveled in male company since she was in college.

Talia is outwardly warm, fun, easy-going, and a little spoiled.
Fundamentally she's utilitarian, self-interested, and analytical, even calculating. She evaluates situations, determines what kind of outcome she wants, and goes for it. But since she's never been in a situation she couldn't handle, she really doesn't realize how wrong she can be.
She has been a cheerful, carefree slut all her adult life - because people have never done anything she hadn't already expected. At work, she pursued positions of authority by (quite correctly) identifying that the best course to take in any given situation was to shut up, be pretty, and provide support that made her boss and her boss' boss look good. Things like this do not give her ethical qualms. She's not going to kick a puppy or anything, but don't expect her to concern herself about the well being of strangers.
